Broken Beauty

To my followers, I am sure you have noticed that I have not continued our marriage series in a few weeks. I need to put that on pause while I grow. Let me explain….

Over the last few weeks, there has been significant words, thoughts and feelings running through my spirit and I am learning a lot. I have a heavy feeling in my spirit this morning that I should share something with you.

I want to talk to you about the beauty of brokenness. First, no matter how whole we feel today as believers or as non-believers, there are still “broken” parts of us or parts of us that will soon break loose in our lives. This brokenness is why we throw ourselves at the foot of the throne repetitively. It is a common occurrence for a person to not give God their everything when life looks good but God really looks good when things are bad. Here is an example many of us have experienced.

Someone is having a great time drinking with their friends and they are on top of the world. Later they are on their knees in front of a toilet begging God to stop the sickness they are feeling. They are saying “if you stop this, I won’t drink again.” In that moment they are in a physically broken state and they feel like God is the only one who can stop it. They are desperate for repair (healing) in that moment. Desperate for change. Desperate for a state of healthy wholeness.

Our heart, spirit, soul, mind and every other part of us will periodically feel broken. We will feel desperate for negative feelings to stop but that very brokenness is beautiful in God’s eyes. He is able to show you that through your surrendering to him and with his love, he can help to heal you in your brokenness. Growth happens in your brokenness, but what is required of us?

Set your pride aside and accept that you are broken.. grab your broken pieces and lay those pieces at his feet. Surrender to him. Have faith that he knows what you need. Find it within yourself to trust that he is the almighty, he knows what he is doing and he doesn’t need your help in sorting it out. All he needs is for you to come to him with your brokenness and let him show you his ability to create something beautiful in you.

Keep trusting even if the solution to your brokenness doesn’t look the way you think it should. He is in control and he knows what needs to happen in your life and when it needs to happen. Go to his feet today and let him make your brokenness beautiful.

Be blessed today.
