The Dead & the Saved- Luke 7

There is no doubt as we continue to read through the Life of Jesus in the book of Luke we see miracle after miracle.  We see Jesus teach, we see him heal, express love and forgive.  Oh what a wonderful God we serve! His expressions of love and kindness know no bounds and I am so thankful for that.  Jesus has walked our path. He felt the pain of a mother who had lost her son and his heart hurt for her and he brought him back.  Luke 7:15 “The dead man sat up and began to talk, and Jesus gave him back to his mother.” I think more often than not we have moments where we forget that Jesus has also felt anguish and pain.  Jesus knew how it felt to be mistreated, he was scoffed at and spit on as if he was nothing.  Later in the chapter we read about the Sinful Woman, Luke 7:37  “A woman in that town who lived a sinful life learned that Jesus was eating at the Pharisee’s house, so she came there with an alabaster jar of  perfume.” I am sure the woman knew how it felt to be mistreated but even though she gave of herself for him.  The last line is such a reminder of the God we serve.  Luke 7:50 “Jesus said to the woman, “Your faith has saved you; go in peace.” Time and time again we see it is all about one’s faith, not faith in themselves or in other, but faith in the one true God.  The God of wonders, the God of miracles, the God of endless love.

I encourage you to think about where you are in your faith, are you living a life of faith today? Through all your sins, through the moments when you are mistreated do you still live a life of faith?
