Zzzz…

Rise up and get moving children of God! We have so many opportunities in front of us. We need to put forth effort to cease those opportunities. The verse below is a good reminder that laziness isn’t a good thing. Sometimes we may not recognize opportunities. For example, you have a pile of homework to get to and you feel annoyed. Remember though, not all people have an opportunity to even attend school. Embrace your to-do’s and work hard!

Proverbs 19:15New International Version (NIV)15 Laziness brings on deep sleep,    and the shiftless go hungry.

Follow the Light…

How many times, in movies, do we hear “follow the light” when people are on their deathbed?

Well you don’t have to wait till death you can do it in life! You can follow it now!

Thank you Jesus for being the light of this world ! To God be the glory !

John 8:12 (NIV)12 When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”

Big Hugs…

Growing up, one thing was GUARANTEED, if you entered into the presence of my family, you were going to receive LOVE! The hugs are endless, so if you were a bit standoffish, you would be cured within a matter of minutes.
My grandparents were/are poster children for love and kindness. We were raised to be welcoming, compassionate and loving to the people entering our homes or walking by on the street.
I thought about this raising when I was leaving church today. I wondered whether the warm, welcoming and loving people were all raised in the same Christian mold that I was. I thought about what lead each of them to the loving kindness of Christ. Take a look at the verse below:

Colossians 3:12-14New International Version (NIV)

12 Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. 13 Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. 14 And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.

I stop and ask myself whether or not I have been living my life according to this verse. Am I wearing the clothes of compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, patience, forgiveness and love? Not only to strangers but to the people in my own home? To my co-workers?
Oh how I would love to wear these glistening “clothes” but truth be told, I could use some work. We probably all could. Whether we are just starting or fine tuning, here is our moment. The moment that we can turn to those around us and give the biggest hug of all, sharing the very love that Christ has shown us.
