Beatitude Eight….

Matthew 5:10 New International Version (NIV)

Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

I have had many conversations with my teenage daughter about doing the right thing. As a matter of fact, whenever she leaves our house I tell her “make good choices.” Why do I do that?
I want to remind her that no matter her circumstances, doing right is a choice.
When I read this beatitude, I can’t help but think of how wonderful Jesus was to
provide us with an important reminder.
While we are on our journey, we will have to choose. We will choose whether or not to do the right thing. At times in life, this does not seem like an easy task. To be quite honest, sometimes when we do the right thing we feel like we have a very WRONG outcome. But the truth is when we stand up boldly in our faith and beliefs we are sheltered by God’s wings. Regardless of the outcome that we experience, God has a purpose for our lives and our circumstances.
There are times when choosing to do right, leads to persecution, but being obedient to God provides us with an entire kingdom filled with his love, light and joy.

Pray…Beatitude Seven…

Please pray about the seventh beatitude.
I encourage you to come before God tonight and ask him to give you peace. No matter where you are at in your Christian walk, the Lord wants you to live a life of peace. If we are at peace within our own hearts, being a peacemaker in the lives of others will be much easier. If you have relationships in your life where you need to make peace, please do. Do not delay. If we are called to express love, kindness and peace, that requires us to also be at peace with ourselves and others.

Blessings, in Jesus name.

Beatitude Seven…

Matthew 5:9
Blessed are the peacemakers,
for they will be called children of God.

Being a peacemaker is not always an easy task. To have a spirit of peace means you have to go against your flesh’s natural reaction during conflictual situations. But God is the prince of peace and as his child, we are called to be peacemakers. There will be times when we may feel stubborn, irritated or other negative emotions that may cause us to be quarrelsome.
In any circumstance, we need to remember that his children are to bring peace, joy and love to others.
Today, I encourage you to use words of peace today within your difficult situations.
