Streams…

Psalm 1:3New International Version (NIV)3 That person is like a tree planted by streams of water,    which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither—  whatever they do prospers.

Amen! Amen and Amen ! This verse is intended for you ! In Christ you were planted by a stream that constantly waters you ! With that constant watering you bear fruit, you stand strong, your leaves are crisp and fresh. Most importantly though whatever YOU do YOU will prosper! When you give your life to God a prosperous life is automatically given to you. Standing in his light means you are standing in his favor. Embrace your favor and proclaim that you are prosperous!

Up the Growth Chart…

Many of us remember either having a growth chart or being asked to stand in front of one in a doctors office. As time passed we would continue on up the growth chart but at a certain point our growth came to a stop physically. Spiritual growth is entirely different, spiritual growth can continue up the growth chart.
In the verse below we find that there are so many areas to grow in that we can spend a lifetime working on these things. Knowledge of God. Wisdom. Bearing fruit. Good Works. Strength. Endurance. Patience. Joyfulness. Thanks.

Colossians 1:9-12New International Version (NIV)

9 For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you. We continually ask God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all the wisdom and understanding that the Spirit gives,[a] 10 so that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God, 11 being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience, 12 and giving joyful thanks to the Father, who has qualified you[b] to share in the inheritance of his holy people in the kingdom of light.

As we go through different stages in our spiritual walk, one thing remains constant and that is God. At times, we may not make true efforts in each of the attributes above, but God desires that we do so. Growing spiritually means we are growing in our knowledge and wisdom of the one who has equipped us to spread his word and love.
Without the growth and knowledge of the things of God we may end up feeling empty, lost or alone. When talking to others about God we may feel as though we are not knowledgeable enough to discuss his ways. But THE TRUTH IS we are fully equipped, we are qualified to do the job and he has called us his children, his people. His love already lies within us but it is up to us to pursue growth through wisdom and understanding. Exercise your spirit today. Pick up your bible, do that bible study you have been putting off, spend time in uninterrupted prayer today! You can increase your knowledge of him any time. You do not need to wait any longer. Rise up, call yourself fully equipped and help equip others. Be confident and be bold in your knowledge of him.

On the Mountainside…

There has been a situation on my mind that has caused me to think about the power of prayer.  Prayer has always been a monumental part of my life and I am thankful for that blessing.  When I was growing up I remember my grandmother waking us up and starting the day with prayer. She reinforced the fact that prayer is extremely important and should be done on a daily basis.

I will admit, tonight, as I read something that was meant to hurt me I sighed and thought, “there is always something, now what?” I love the power of the Holy Spirit that immediately answered my question with one simple word, “pray”.  After I heard that word, I closed my eyes and immediately started to reflect on Jesus and his commitment to prayer.

Jesus sought his father in prayer constantly.  In the verse below, we see that Jesus, through prayer went to the father when choosing the twelve apostles.

Luke 6:12New International Version (NIV)12 One of those days Jesus went out to a mountainside to pray, and spent the night praying to God.

In times of important decisions, Jesus went to the mountainside alone and talked to his father. We have the same opportunity, in Jesus’ name, we can go to the father and be confident knowing that he is there. Whether we are on the mountainside or sitting in our car, the Lord is available and waiting for the conversation that we would like to have with him.  No boundaries, no time limits, just us and God.

I pray tonight, that whatever your situation you will seek God in prayer.
